At EcoMaste, we’ve been learning to live through nature’s eyes.
We recognize that as human beings, we have essential needs that must be nourished—not just to survive, but to truly thrive. When these needs are met with care and intention, something shifts within us. We move from a state of scarcity into a rhythm of abundance.
We feel deeply grateful to be in relationship with those who have walked this path before us—pioneers who have done the heavy lifting and now share their wisdom. One of these inspirations comes from the book “Rhythms That Root Us” by our friend Ticon Storay, where he introduces the acronym WAFFLES:
Water. Air. Food. Friends. Love. Energy. Shelter.
These are the foundational nutrients of a thriving life. When our “WAFFLES” are of high quality and in balance, we create the conditions for growth, resilience, and vitality—both individually and collectively.

The Roles That Sustain the Garden
Just as in any ecosystem, each element has its role.
Within our project, we’ve identified key roles that help the whole system flourish. This past season, these included:
House Manager
Permaculture Manager
Herbal Apprentice / Kitchen Support
Each role became a pillar of support, allowing the broader vision to root more deeply into the land and into daily life.
Our core team and vision holders co-created a culture grounded in care, safety, playfulness, and creativity. From this fertile soil, something beautiful emerged: people, opportunities, and connections began to flow toward us naturally.
Workshops, courses, and gatherings came into fruition with greater ease. Relationships blossomed organically. It felt as though our collective energy was sending out a signal—and life responded.

Communication: The Invisible Soil
We’ve come to understand that community is not just about living together—it’s about how we relate.
The roots of both community and communication originate from, the Latin communicare -to share, to make common. As Ticon says, communication is the invisible soil that determines whether a community thrives or struggles.
To nourish this soil, we practice rhythm and intentional connection through:
Weekly logistical meetings
Daily check-ins
Shared meals
Shared activities
Emotional sharing circles
We also hold weekly circles that tend to the soul of our community—spaces where we can be seen, heard, and held.
From Community to Self: Tending the Inner Landscape
One of the most beautiful realizations is that these rhythms are not limited to community living.
They can be brought into your personal life.
You can begin by creating space to tend to your own inner garden:
Establish clear foundations in your daily logistics so you don’t feel overwhelmed
Check in with yourself each day—emotionally, physically, spiritually
Notice what needs care, attention, or nourishment
Tend to those areas with presence, compassion, curiosity and gratitude
From this awareness, you begin to grow consciously—directing your energy toward what truly matters.
And from there, this rhythm can extend outward:
To your partner. To your friends. To your family. To your collaborators. To your community.
From Practice to Devotion
Over time, this way of living transforms.
What once felt like something you have to do becomes something you get to engage with.
It becomes a devotion.
A way of showing up in integrity with yourself, with others, and with life itself.
We feel immense gratitude for this past season with our core team. And as one cycle completes, another begins.

A New Cycle Begins
We are now calling in a new cohort to join us, beginning in May for a 3–6 month journey.
By welcoming new members now, we create space for current team members to step into mentorship—deepening their skills, confidence, and leadership.
We are currently calling in:
House Manager (Communications & Marketing focus)
Permaculture Manager
Kitchen Manager
If you feel the call—or know someone who might—we would love to connect.
