Weekend workshop

Come to EcoMaste and experience the abundance of life in the jungle. Here you will have an opportunity to commune with nature, ground yourself, enjoy our nature trails, cascading river, harvest fresh foods from the property, vibrant delicious plant based meals, and learn basic knowledge you need to make a small scale bamboo model.

In this course, participants are guided by instructor Jose Bermudez through hands on model making alongside demonstrations and other prepared examples.

Our goal is to give students a transformational and regenerative education so that they can be empowered to create a lifestyle rooted in sustainability and collaboration with nature. You will be guide in the steps to make your own small scale structure bamboo model.

In this weekend workshop, you will brainstorm ideas for a small structure, draw different perspectives of the dreamed structure, and transform them into a physical small scale bamboo structure. If you already have some knowledge, the instruction will be adapted to match your skill level, so you can improve on your own skills.

Miniature models play a vital role in the design process of bamboo building projects. The bamboo model is often revisited during construction so that the dimensions can be reevaluated or any challenges resolved.

Knowing your material is fundamental in any building project. Making a bamboo model helps you to better understand the characteristics of bamboo, its flexibility, resistance and strength.

Materials and tools are provided by Ecomaste.

You will learn how to make a detailed bamboo model and implement it on the building site. This will help you visualize your building project and find solutions to some of the challenges of architectural model making.

• Preparing bamboo for model making
• Splitting, bending, drilling, lashing and other methods
• Making of bamboo nails
• Perspective drawing of a visioned structure
• Building your own bamboo model

• Day 2 - Brainstorm, design, tool use.
• Day 3 -  Steps to make a structure model. Materials are included.
• Day 4 - Final work day. Presentation of structures.

• Suitable for any level. From no experience to expert.
• You must be over 18 years old.
• Reiki, body massage or a guided personal healing session, at additional cost.
• Access to river and pond.
• Hiking trails on property. 

 Bambú (scale model): 

• Learn about bamboo varieties
• Harvesting, processing, treatment and curing methods.
• Splitting of bamboo, bending, drilling, pegging, lashing, fish mouths and other joinery techniques.
• How to make a fish mouth
• Make bamboo nails.
• Prepare walls before application of adobe
