Imbolc Illuminating Light

Updated: Feb 1

Imbolc Light + Full Moon Leo Fire: A Seasonal Ritual for Embodying you Authentic Expression

We are experience both the Full Moon in Leo and Imbolc—a sacred threshold in the wheel of the year, the midpoint between winter and spring.

Not quite spring, not quite winter. But something is changing.

Imbolc is the season of returning light, purification, and the first quiet stirring of life beneath the soil. It’s when the days lengthen just enough to be felt, and we begin to sense that what was resting is now preparing to rise.

If winter is the deep inhale…Imbolc is the first warm exhale.

And as if the season itself is emphasizing the message, we are also held by the energy of a

Full Moon in Leo—a bright, bold lunar moment that invites us into:

🔥 expression🔥 courage🔥 creativity🔥 truth-telling🔥 heart-led living

Imbolc whispers, tend the flame. Leo declares, let it be seen.

This pairing is powerful: one is the sacred hearth, the other is the radiant sun of the heart.

January’s Medicine: Silence & Qigong as a Returning

In January, we gathered for our Natural Rhythms Retreat, centered on silence and qigong.

Silence is not emptiness it's an alive presence.

When we step away from constant input, we begin to notice what’s been waiting beneath the noise:

  • the nervous system settling into safety

  • the breath becoming a teacher

  • emotions moving like weather

  • the body’s quiet intelligence returning

  • nature speaking in a language older than words

Qigong supported that same return—gentle, rhythmic movement that clears stagnation and invites life-force back into circulation.

In many ways, January was a return to the roots. And now Imbolc arrives like a candle lit in the dark.

The Invitation of Imbolc: Purify, Simplify, Begin Again

Imbolc is often associated with:

🕯 candlelight + hearth (devotion, warmth, clarity)💧 cleansing waters (release, renewal, purification)🌱 first growth (subtle beginnings, seed-stirrings)🔥 sacred fire (life force returning)

It’s the perfect moment to gently ask:

What is ready to be released?

What needs to be simplified?

What is quietly asking for my devotion?

This is not the season of forcing its the season of tending.

Full Moon in Leo: The Courage to Be Seen

Leo is the sign of the heart, the inner sun, the part of you that knows:

✨ your joy matters✨ your creativity is medicine✨ your presence is a gift✨ your voice deserves space

The Full Moon illuminates what’s ready to be acknowledged.

So under Leo’s bright lunar fire, you might reflect:

  • Where have I dimmed myself to feel safe?

  • What part of me wants to be expressed more honestly?

  • What do I deeply desire this year?

  • What would it look like to live from the heart, not the habit?

This isn’t about performance its about alignment

Imbolc brings the spark.Leo gives it permission to shine.

Imbolc + Full Moon in Leo Ritual

This ritual is designed to be nourishing, accessible, and meaningful—something you can do in 20–30 minutes with what you already have.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 candle (white, gold, or any color you have)

  • a small bowl of water

  • a pinch of salt (optional)

  • paper + pen

  • one comforting herbal tea (ginger, cinnamon & lime)

  • (optional) a small object to represent your “inner fire” (a crystal, dried herb bundle, etc.)

Step 1: Cleanse + Arrive (2 minutes)

Place your bowl of water in front of you. If you’d like, add a pinch of salt.

Take three slow breaths.

You can say softly:“I arrive. I am here. I am listening.”

Step 2: Light the Candle (Imbolc Flame)

Light your candle and let it represent the returning light in you.

Say:“I welcome the returning light. I tend what is ready to grow.”

Step 3: Qigong-Inspired Heart Awakening (3–5 minutes)

Bring both hands to your chest.Rub them together until warm, then place them over your heart.

Breathe in through the nose, out through the mouth.

If it feels good, gently tap your chest with relaxed fists (softly), awakening heart energy and circulation.

This is a simple way to invite the body into the ritual—so it isn’t only mental.

Step 4: Release What’s Ready to Burn Away (Full Moon Clearing)

On paper, write:

“I release…”List what you’re done carrying into the next season.

Examples:

  • self-doubt

  • overcommitting

  • procrastination rooted in fear

  • hiding your gifts

  • noise, scrolling, distraction

  • any relationship pattern that drains you

When you’re done, fold the paper.

If it’s safe to do so, you may burn it in a fire-safe bowl.

If not, tear it up and place it in the trash or compost.

Whisper: “Thank you. I release you.”

Step 5: Claim Your Leo Light (Heart + Courage)

On a new piece of paper write:

“This season, I choose…”

Let it be simple. Let it be true.

Examples:

  • to speak more honestly

  • to create without needing permission

  • to be seen

  • to learn something hands-on

  • to deepen my relationship with plants

  • to build a life rooted in nature

  • to live from the heart

Place this paper under your candle (or on your altar / bedside table).

Say: “I choose to live from the heart. I give my light a home.”

Step 6: Seal with Water + Warmth

Dip your fingertips into the water and touch your forehead and heart.

Take a sip of your tea.

Feel the message land in your body:✨ I am safe to begin again.I am safe to be seen.

Let the candle burn for a few more minutes as you sit in quiet.
